Red Fort

The Red Fort is a historic fort which is situated in Delhi which served as the main residence of the Mughal Emperors. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan on 12 May 1638, when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi. Actually red and white were Shah Jahan’s favourite colours, its design is designed by architect Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who also constructed the Taj Mahal.

Every year on 15 August, our Prime Minister of India give speech on Red Fort. Because on 15 August 1947, the first Prime Minister of india Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru raised the Indian Flag on Red Fort. The Red Fort, the largest monument in Delhi, is one of its most popular tourist destinations and attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Also, interesting fact about Red Fort is that, The Red fort appears on the back side of the ₹500 note of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series of the Indian rupee.From this you can assume the importance of Red Fort in Delhi.

A sound and light show describing Mughal history is a tourist attraction in the evenings. Every Person who came here must watch the Show. Show held Everyday except Monday due to closer of Red Fort itself. The Show held in Both the Languages in English as well in Hindi at different Timings.

HINDI: 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM

ENGLISH: 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM

TICKET PRICES:  Weekdays – INR 60 for adults and INR 20 for children

Weekends and Government Holidays – INR 80 for adults and INR 30 for children

Chandni Chowk is the nearest metro station to Red Fort. Then you can take Auto or Rickshaw to reach Red Fort. You can also go to Red Fort by any transport like Buses, personal car and cab.

2. The light and sound shows held every evening, a must watch thing.
