The Red Fort is a historic fort which is situated in Delhi which served as the main residence of the Mughal Emperors. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan on 12 May 1638, when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi. Actually red and white were Shah Jahan’s favourite colours, its design is designed by architect Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who also constructed the Taj Mahal.
Every year on 15 August, our Prime Minister of India give speech on Red Fort. Because on 15 August 1947, the first Prime Minister of india Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru raised the Indian Flag on Red Fort. The Red Fort, the largest monument in Delhi, is one of its most popular tourist destinations and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
Also, interesting fact about Red Fort is that, The Red fort appears on the back side of the ₹500 note of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series of the Indian rupee.From this you can assume the importance of Red Fort in Delhi.
