Charkha Museum

It is one of the newest thing to see in Delhi. Inaugurated on 27th May 2017 above the Palika Bazaar in Connaught place Place in Delhi. Constructed in collaboration with KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission). Charkha Museum is managed by New Delhi Municipal Corporation. There is a giant model of the Charkha (26 feet long, 13 feet wide and 4 feet high) promotes the philosophy of self-reliance.

It has weight of about 5 tonnes is weather proofed to stand against rains, storms, and sun. This symbol of nationalism celebrates the evolution and history of our Culture, Swadeshi Movement. Charkha Museum id dedicated to the Father of our Nation- Mahatma Gandhi. In the Museum there is a showcases of around 14 vintage charkha models and depicts the journey of charkhas from ‘Kapas’ to ‘Yarn’ to final at ‘Khadi Product’. And there is a screen which shows the whole journey of Mahatma Gandhi from childhood to death like their places they visited, their struggles and all other important events of his life. This makes Charkha Museum a must place to visit if you like to see indian history and indian culture.

Nearest Metro Station to Charkha Museum

As Charkha Museum is present in Connaught Place, so the nearest metro station is “Rajiv Chowk”. And exit at Gate No.- 6 towards Palika Bazaar. Charkha Museum is only 5 minutes walk from the metro station.
